Tree Topples Power Line, Trapping a Driver

Just weeks after a lightning storm downed a power line in Queens, electrocuting two students who were trapped in their car, a falling tree toppled another power line yesterday, stranding a driver at a Queens intersection, officials said. But this time no one was killed. The 50-foot oak tree, its roots waterlogged, fell across the intersection of Utopia Parkway and Station Road in Bayside, pulling down a 120-volt power line that electrified the outside of a green Toyota Camry being driven by Robert Kreisler of Forest Hills, Queens, and trapping him inside, the police and Con Ed officials said.
