More Subway Cars Are Clean, A Group's Survey Reports

New York City's subways are cleaner than they were a year ago, according to a rider advocacy group's sixth annual survey of the system. This year, 66 percent of cars were rated as ''clean,'' up from 59 percent last year and 47 percent the year before, the Straphangers Campaign's report showed. Since 1999, the percentage of clean cars has more than doubled, the report said.
